The Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA) is sponsoring an award for the upcoming Highways Awards. The Highways Awards is an industry recognised benchmark for excellence which honour outstanding projects, new technology and members of the industry who are driving a positive change.
The RSMA is supporting the Line Marking and Street Design award which recognises professional excellence in place and road design that creates meaningful community impact. It celebrates the capacity for schemes to improve local spaces and the way we experience them, leading to positive quantifiable outcomes and qualitative benefits in terms of civic pride, enjoyment and mobility.
This will be the third year the RSMA has sponsored the award, with Jointline winning in 2025 for its work on the Bawtry Road scheme in Tickhill. The scheme followed an extensive redesign of a hazardous junction which had seen numerous accidents and near misses. Due to its collision history and visibility issues, the area had been flagged for intervention and Jointline was appointed to install the redesigned layout. Improvements included enhanced skid-resistance, clearly defined vehicle paths and better low light visibility, created by utilising high performance thermoplastic material and precision application techniques.
Rob Shearing, the chief executive of the RSMA, reflects on their decision to sponsor the awards by saying “supporting and judging the Highways Awards is a privilege that reflects the RSMA’s commitment to raising the standards and awareness across our sector. It’s an opportunity to recognise the innovation and dedication that keeps our road networks safe and efficient for everyone”.
Nominations for this year's awards are now closed and the winners will be announced on the 23rd of September 2026. We wish everyone who entered the very best of luck.
