COVID-19 – Operative Refresher and Assessment Scheme (ORAS) (15 Apr 20)

All Road Marking (Hand Applied) and Road Stud Installation Operatives qualified to the relevant NVQ Level 2 are required to undertake an Operative Refresher Assessment Scheme (ORAS) course at 4 yearly intervals in accordance with the requirement set out in the National Highways Sector Scheme #7 (NHSS #7).

However, as a result of the impact on member companies of the COVID-19 virus, the following extensions are to be applied to ORAS ‘end point’ months. Please note that the date remains the same and is transferred to the month shown below. No extensions are currently planned for the period October 2020 to March 2021.

NEW END POINT MONTH

April 2020 becomes July 2020
May 2020 becomes August 2020
June 2020 becomes September 2020
July 2020 becomes September 2020
August 2020 becomes October 2020
September 2020 becomes October 2020

The schedule outlined above is published as an interim measure for the information of members was confirmed by the NHSS #7 Committee at its meeting on 23 April 20.

Examples:

  1. 17 May 2020 becomes 17 August 2020.
  2. 23 July 2020 becomes 23 September 2020.
  3. 5 October 2020 remains 5 October 2020.

Contracting member companies are requested to:

  1. Ensure that any changes are reflected in employee training plans/matrices
  2. Forward to the RSMA Training Co-ordinator via e-mail ssmith@rsma.co.uk the names of those individuals to whom the extensions are to be applied.
