Many members of the Association will already be aware of the raw material shortages that are impacting upon both the manufacture of road marking materials and the cost of manufacture of materials. In turn, these factors are leading to shortages of and associated price rises in finished materials.

Please find attached a copy of a brief that the RSMA has drafted for circulation to the Department for Transport, Highways Agency, Local Authority clients and member companies to outline the nature of the problem, its causes and likely implications.

Clearly it is important from both contractor and manufacturer perspectives that clients and contractors are fully aware of the problems the sector is facing, the cost implications of these problems and the likely consequent need for uplifts on a range of contracts; hopefully the brief will be of assistance to any company wishing to bring the problems to the attention of their clients.
