NATIONAL HIGHWAY SECTOR SCHEME – 12D Training

Designed

To provide operative training within an accreditation scheme competency qualification for clients, designers and managers

Duration

Normally a 7-day training and assessment modular course but this depend on the number of modules required

  • Static works module (T2)
  • Dual carriageway (under 40mph0 (T3)
  • Convoy working module (T4)
  • Multi-phase signals module (T5)
  • Supervisor role and inspectors module (T6)
  • Managers and clients officers (all units of 12D) (T7)

Who is the course for?

All people, both client and contractor, involved in the planning, designing, erecting, maintaining and removing Temporary Traffic Management on urban and rural roads

ADR - HAZARDOUS GOODS COURSE

Designed

Specifically designed to meet current legislation requirements for drivers involved in transporting hazardous substances by road in tanks, tank containers and packages

Duration

Normally a 5-day course

Course Content

  • Class 2 Gasses
  • Class 3 Flammable Liquids
  • Class 4 Flammable Solids
  • Class 5 Oxidising Agents, Organic Peroxides
  • Class 6 Toxics
  • Class 8 Corrosives
  • Class 9 Miscellaneous
  • Plus Tanker Module

Tanker drivers will require the additional 'Tanks Module'

Who is the course for?

All drivers who need to move hazardous substances by road must by law hold a valid ADR Licence

Road Marking Apprenticeship Scheme

The Road Marking Apprenticeship scheme is a 24-month training program for operatives new to road marking. It delivers a broad multi-skilled approach, providing new entrants with a broad base of skills previously associated with those who have worked for many years in the Road Marking Sector

On completing the scheme Apprentices achieve a number of qualifications and certificates including a level 2 NVQ Diploma in Pavement Marking

All Sector Scheme 7 registered companies are required to follow the Road Marking Apprenticeship route for new operatives

The scheme is delivered in a modular manner by a mix of formal instruction off-job, Key Skills and followed by supervised on-job training at employer level with a final end assessment

Off-site training is mainly completed at our training centre at Gainsborough, although some specialised training may take place at other locations

The courses are designed to ensure that the candidate understandd the hazards and the safe working practices of this specialised industry, and on completion of training, the candidate will be able to operate equipment and lay markings to industry standards of competence

 

Companies that are in scope and fully paid-up with their CITB levy will be eligible for grant funding to offset some of the cost of the Apprenticeship scheme, and the RSMA can offer guidance in relation to funding levels.

Each intake for the scheme consists of 8 apprentices and is scheduled to take place every three months

Level 3 NVQ Diploma - Occupational Work Supervision

This qualification is developed by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Edexcel Foundation (BTEC). The course is primarily aimed at people already working in a supervisory or management role within the construction industry. To achieve this qualification, supervisors or managers must provide satisfactory evidence of their management skills, their technical knowledge and competence in the workplace, and their ability to supervise or manage a construction operation

For the road marking industry, the Highways Maintenance module of this course is advisable

Who the course is aimed at

Suitable for both established construction site supervisors, and those who are developing their abilities in this occupation. Including mature students with no formal qualifications

Assessment

During each unit of study you will be asked to produce evidence from the workplace that you are competent at undertaking various tasks. When the work is complete and assessed it will be filed in a portfolio of evidence

Training method

Formal lectures, discussions, practical exercises and an explanation of the evidence that will be required

Duration

Completition can take between 6 to 9 months dependent on the candidates ability and experience

Level 3 NVQ Diploma - Occupational Work Supervision

Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management- HIghways Maintenenace and Repair
