About the RSMA
The Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA) represents and supports its members and the industry as a whole, providing a base for discussion, training and standards that help to ensure the health and safety of operators and to develop a highly trained, fully-qualified workforce
The organisation has been established for over thirty years, promoting the industry as a whole and the collective interests of its members. About 90% of companies involved in the road marking industry are represented, ranging from the smallest to the largest organisations, throughout the country

George Lee - Director
George has led the RSMA since 1997, growing it into the largest specialist trade association in the highways sector and developing the wide range of support services that it offers its members today
George is responsible to the RSMA Board and to you, the members, for all aspects of the Association’s activities, the performance of team members and the financial strength of the organisation
George is also the “eyes, ears and voice” of the Association, representing, lobbying and liaising with local, national and international organisations. He frequently presents on road marking and safety issues on behalf of the RSMA and the European Road Federation at international conferences
He is a Member of the Institute of Directors; has a BA in Public Policy; and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management
Kevin Jackson - Operations Manager
Kevin joined the Association in 2007 as Operations Manager and brings with him extensive customer service and account management experience which is a feature of his role within the organisation. Kevin also has a BA (Hons) degree in Business Administration
Kevin is responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of the NHA QCF qualifications including the Road Marking Apprenticeship Scheme. Working closely with external organisations such as Cskills, NSAC and CSCS, Kevin ensures that members benefit from any funding available for industry training and is able to provide support and guidance in relation to sector specific training needs
Building and maintaining relationships with association members, suppliers and external bodies is an essential part of Kevin’s role; in addition to ensuring that the road marking sector is always represented within the construction and highway industry
Ian Mumby - Health, Safety and Quality Officer
Ian joined the team in 2009 and has extensive experience in health and safety, quality, and training
Ian comes qualified with NEBOSH and IOSH accrediatations gained from over 10 years working across a range of industries
Previously working as a Health and Safety and training consultant, Ian can always help members who require the advice, guidance and the support of a full Health, Safety and Quality auditing service
Paul Taylor - Apprenticeship Trainer
Paul joined the R.S.M.A in October 2009. He has worked in the road marking industry for over 12 years. He has practical and managerial experience in; High Friction Surfacing (BBA Type 1), Hot and cold applied coloured surfacing, Road Marking, Road Studs, Resin Bound (Adda Set and Sure Set), and Resin Bonded Stone, Imprint, Asphaltic Bridge Jointing, Joint Sealing, Traffic Management and Vehicle maintenance.
Paul has been involved in training throughout his career; he has trained operatives in all disciplines above and has been to Southern Ireland, South Korea and Romania in a training capacity.
Paul is an NVQ assessor for Level2, Level3 and Level 6 and holds a current CSCS health and safety card, fork lift licence and a current ADR certificate. Paul is a Lantra approved instructor and assessor for 12D T1 – T4, holds a level 3 award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and is an Emergency First Aider.
Paul is responsible for the running and training of the Road Marking Apprenticeship Scheme, Up-skilling programmes and assessments for the NVQ portfolio of products offered by the RSMA. Paul is also on hand to offer members technical guidance and support.
Alun Durbridge - NVQ Assessor
Alun is a fully qualified NVQ assessor who has been in the Road Marking Industry for over 20 years. Alan had been an assessor for the Road Building - Pavement Marking NVQ since the onset of the scheme in 2002
Lorraine Crashley - Training and Marketing Co-ordinator
Lorraine is the Training and Marketing Co-ordinator of the RSMA and has worked for the Association since 2006. Coming from a Sales and Marketing background Lorraine’s role as Marketing Co-ordinator involves her promoting the RSMA services to members and external customers in addition to working to promoting the association, the sector and association members. She also manages events, including running the RSMA annual conference and co-ordinating the annual publication Top Marks and other publications
Lorraine has been heavily involved in the rebranding of NHA, the training brand of RSMA, in addition to managing the systems and operations of the service. This includes advice and guidance in relation to training solutions, working with external training providers, ensuring members receive highly competitive and quality training to meet the needs of the industry
As well as providing administrative and diary support to the Director, Lorraine processes new member applications and offers general support and guidance to members of the association
Lorraine is currently studying for her BA (Hons) Degree in Business Studies
Sue Smith - NVQ Administrator
Having come from a customer service environment Sue joined the RSMA in 2007 as Administrator for the Association
Being responsible for the administration of all the QCF qualifications and the Road Marking Apprenticeship Scheme delivered by the NHA, Sue works closely with members and external customers in the co-ordination of all aspects of the training programmes. This includes the co-ordination of the assessment and verification processes, ensuring that trainees are registered and that clients complete the necessary paperwork regarding funding entitlements
Sue's role also involves general office administration as well as helping with the co-ordination of RSMA events such as the annual conference and the Health and Safety forum
Jules Brown - Accounts Administrator
From a varied background including owning his own book shop, Jules joined the Association in 2007 as Accounts Administrator. His main duties include invoicing, purchase and sales ledger, credit control and assisting with the management accounts and budgeting
Jules manages Member subscriptions, directory listings for the Top Marks publication and co-ordinates delegate bookings for the RSMA annual conference
Recent activities have seen Jules assisting with the EIMP programme, gathering and analysing information imperative to this project
Duncan Powers - Research Officer
Duncan joined the RSMA team in 2010 on secondment through our partnership with Lincoln University, where he continues his studies in MSc in Construction Project Management. Since March of this year Duncan has become a fulltime staff member being involved in all aspects of environmental management strategies being investigated by RSMA
Following being awarded his first degree in Environmental Science from Leicester University including a thesis investigating alternative fuel and energy technologies Duncan has had experience within the field of Environmental Consultancy and contaminated land assessment and remediation undertaking projects for domestic clients and large scale industrial brown field regeneration schemes. He has also spent some time within a multinational buildings foundation engineering and contracting practice undertaking design and management roles within precast driven, vibro stone column and CFA projects
